Assisted Living Residents Left In Peril As Hurricane Harvey Hit

Houston Chronicle (8/3, Jenny Deam)

The Houston Chronicle reports AARP Texas is planning to release a “sharply critical report” Monday which will reveal the dangerous conditions dozens of elderly and medically vulnerable residents faced at three assisted living facilities in Houston and one in Victoria while Hurricane Harvey descended upon the area. The Chronicle adds that the “AARP focused on assisted living facilities because they are the fastest growing segment of elder care in Texas and the facilities are loosely regulated, falling only under state oversight.”
