Iowa Medicaid Change Reportedly Impacting Reimbursement for Special-Needs Population

The Cedar Rapids (IA) Gazette (3/4, Ramm, 157K) reports that the modification of “a Medicaid waiver reimbursement system for” Iowa’s “special-needs population has left some health providers without enough funding to sustain their services.” The article says that although officials with the Iowa Department of Human Services officials contend “this change will create more stability to the reimbursement system, it leaves some...concerned for their loved ones’ future.” The piece adds that one provider is anticipating a 53-percent reduction in its reimbursement rate.
