March 5, 2018

USA Today (3/5, Cava, 9.51M) reports that on Monday, Lyft announced it is expanding its partnerships with healthcare providers so that it can offer rides to patients who would otherwise be unable to keep appointments at physicians’ offices and hospitals. Lyft is partnering with Allscripts to “integrate its platform into the daily routines of 2,500 hospitals, 45,000 physician practices and 180,000 physicians, reaching an estimated 7 million patients.” Healthcare providers cover the cost of the ride unless otherwise specified.

The AP (3/5) reports that more than seven million Americans miss medical care every year due to lack of transportation, according to health economist Paul Hughes-Cromwick.
