Parents In Florida Having Trouble Finding Childcare For Children With Special Needs.

May 19, 2020

Disability Scoop (5/19, Ocasio) reports that during the pandemic, few childcare providers for children with special needs remained open in Florida, despite “missing out on weeks of therapy during the pandemic,” possibly having “long-lasting effects on” children’s ability to progress. Ron DeSantis (R) didn’t order centers to close, “providers argue that the governor’s decision to shift the responsibility onto child care centers with little cooperation among state agencies is partly to blame for the industry’s inability to bounce back.”
