Program To Transition People From Institutions Gets Three Months Of Renewed Funding.

Disability Scoop (1/29, Perkes) reports that legislation President Trump signed last week to end the government shutdown included $112 million – “a three-month extension” – for the Medicaid program known as Money Follows the Person “that moves people with disabilities out of institutions and into community-based housing.” States have run the program with funds left after it expired in 2016, although “at least a dozen states ran out of money before the legislation passed.” Program advocates now will consider how to gain funding for a longer term.
