United Healthcare Fined For Denying Customer’s Claims Relating To Mental Healthcare.

Disability Scoop (11/8, Brubaker) reports that insurance giant UnitedHealthcare has been fined $1 million for denying customer’s claims relating to mental healthcare, “Pennsylvania officials announced this week.” UnitedHealthcare’s “actions were in violation of the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, officials said.” The company “also inaccurately calculated consumers’ total out-of-pocket costs for claims relating to autism, according to the state Insurance Department.”
