Washington Gov. Inslee Talking To Lawmakers About Potential Delay In Payroll Tax Collection For New Long-Term Care Program.

December 3, 2021

The AP (12/3, Corte) reports Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) “said Thursday he is talking to lawmakers about a potential delay in the collection of a mandatory payroll tax to fund Washington state’s new long-term care program.” Senate Democratic leadership on Wednesday “sent Inslee a letter asking him to delay implementation of the premium assessment – set to start in January – until Jan. 1, 2023, saying that it would allow the Legislature to address concerns about the program.” Inslee said “he didn’t have the authority to make a unilateral decision.”
