ACL Launches Online Hub of Elder Justice Resources

June 5, 2019

As communities around the world prepare to commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, ACL is making it easier for the public and professionals to access critical information about elder justice from our resource centers.

ElderJustice.acl.gov serves as a gateway to seven ACL resource centers which disseminate information to professionals and the public; collaborate on research; and provide technical assistance and training to professionals, states, and community-based organizations:

  • The National Adult Protective Services Technical Assistance Resource Center (APS TARC) is a national resource center which provides resources, education, and networking to APS programs in order to promote excellence in the delivery of Adult Protective Services.
  • The National Adult Maltreatment Reporting System (NAMRS) is a repository of summary and de-identified data from state Adult Protective Services programs. The goal of NAMRS is to provide consistent, accurate national data on the exploitation and abuse of older adults and adults with disabilities, as reported to APS agencies.
  • The National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA)  is a national resource center that provides the latest information regarding research, training, best practices, and resources on abuse of older adults and adults with disabilities for professionals and the public.
  • The National Center on Law & Elder Rights (NCLER) is a national resource center for the legal services and aging and disability networks, focused on the legal rights of older adults. NCLER provides free case consultation assistance for attorneys and professionals seeking more information to help older adults.
  • The National Long-Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center (NORC) aims to enhance the skills, knowledge, and management capacity of State Long-Term Care Ombudsman programs to enable them to handle residents' complaints and represent resident interests in both individual and systems advocacy.
  • The National Resource Center On Women And Retirement Planning (NRCWRP) educates women of all ages about planning for their future financial, health and long-term care needs. The Center seeks to improve women's access to basic financial and retirement planning tools that promote financial literacy.
  • Pension Help America (PHA) provides technical assistance, training, and support to six regional counseling and information centers funded by ACL to counsel and assist with pension access, and coordinates with government agencies and legal service providers on pensions. PHA directly assists individual in the states not served by those regional centers with help when they have questions about their retirement plans.

ACL believes that strong, stable communities with structures to support people of all ages and abilities not only ensure justice and dignity for older people and people with disabilities, but also secure the well-being and quality of life of us all.
