Two Comment Opportunities Concerning Pain Issues

January 10, 2019

Consideration of Pain in the Disability Determination Process

Deadline: February 15, 2019

The Social Security Administration is asking for public input on an Advance Notice of Public Rulemaking to align consideration of pain in adult and child disability claims with current medicine and health care practices. They seek comments and data related to the consideration of pain and documentation of pain in the medical evidence used in connection with claims for benefits. Responses will help determine whether and how revisions should be proposed to current policy regarding evaluation of pain.
