The Administration for Community Living (ACL) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) host a monthly webinar series that invites subject matter experts and practitioners from across the home-and-community-based services (HCBS) spectrum to share insights and best practices to develop high quality HCBS services and programs.
Food insecurity is growing among Medicaid HCBS beneficiaries as the COVID pandemic enters 2021. Many beneficiaries facing food insecurity also suffer from chronic diseases rooted in poor nutrition and impacted by sedentary behavior, such as obesity and diabetes. These nutrition-related chronic diseases make their nutritional requirements complex and often exacerbates other costly chronic health conditions.
This webinar provides HCBS stakeholders with resources they can use to ensure long-term success in addressing food and nutrition insecurity. Presenters will delve into the complexities of tackling this issue from their unique perspectives: clinical, HCBS policy and funding programs, advocacy and coalition building, medically tailored nutrition services, and nutrition grant programs.
Presenters:
- Dr. Simin Meydani, D.V.M., Ph.D, Director and Professor, Nutritional Immunology Team at Tufts University's Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging and Tufts’ Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy
