The United States is facing a dire shortage of direct care workers who provide essential services to older adults and people with disabilities. Yet, states often struggle to tackle the problem in an effective way. This Milbank Memorial Fund webinar will discuss how states can address the problem, such as raising wages and using data to help create better interventions. These actions will help states address the economic insecurity of direct care workers and improve the workforce's capacity.
This 75-minute webinar will draw on a forthcoming Milbank Memorial Fund toolkit, "The Direct Care Workforce Policy and Action Guide," by Courtney Roman, Carrie Graham, and Nida Joseph of the Center for Health Care Strategies; Clare Luz of IMPART Alliance/Michigan State University; and Kate McEvoy of the Milbank Memorial Fund. It will also offer insights from officials whose states are bolstering their support for the direct care workforce.
