In October 2022, SAMHSA opened the Office of Recovery to ensure that lived experience voice was included in mental health and substance use policy, programs, and support. On this panel, staff from the Office of Recovery discuss the roles of families — including caregivers of children with serious mental illness — and Family Peer Specialists in the recovery journey and how SAMHSA will prioritize the inclusion of family voice in decision-making.
