Here's what's new on our COVID-19 resource page

Rural health webinar TODAY at 2pm EDT: The Elizabeth Dole Foundation, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Philips will be hosting a virtual seminar focused on the needs of rural veterans and caregivers during the COVID-19 pandemic today at 2pm EDT. The hour-long session will include an update on VA operations amid COVID-19, a presentation on rural health resources available to veteran families, and an introduction by the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Phillips to Project Atlas - a new partnership initiative aimed at establishing virtual clinics in rural regions of the country. Archived episodes from the series on Accessing VA Telehealth Amid COVID-19 and VA Self-Care & Whole Health are available on the Elizabeth Dole Foundation YouTube Channel.

Hearing from CILs: Findings are now available from a national survey of Centers for Independent Living assessing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and local, state, and federal policies on people with disabilities. The survey was conducted by the Collaborative on Health Reform and Independent Living (CHRIL), in partnership with the IL-NET National Training and Technical Assistance Center for Independent Living at ILRU and the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL). Findings are based on 144 survey responses completed between April and June 2020.

New tools for CBOs: The HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response has created a new resource page providing information for community-based organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Resources focus on equipping CBOs to re-open, supporting clients and family caregiving networks, bringing innovation to CBO service, and improving integration.

CMS Provider Teleconferences: CMS is hosting a series of teleconferences for providers to provide updates and answer questions. Teleconferences include weekly "office hours" to answer questions about temporary CMS actions to empower local hospitals and healthcare systems as well as specific calls for nursing homes and hospice and home health providers. In case you missed it: Also in the "Webinars and Teleconferences" section, we've posted recordings of recent ACL webinars on using technology to engage older adults and adults with disabilities and combating social isolation among older adults. The social isolation webinar was hosted in partnership the with Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Veterans Health Administration, and the National Coalition on Mental Health and Aging.

Avoiding scams targeting small businesses: During disasters, small businesses often become targets for fraudulent scams claiming to provide assistance. FEMA Region II and the Federal Trade Commission are hosting webinars on July 22 (in English) and July 23 (in Spanish) at noon EDT to discuss emerging scams and how to avoid them.
