Many individuals are prevented from accessing transportation due to lack of transit hours, high cost of travel, inaccessibility of information, or first mile/last mile barriers — like poorly maintained or designed sidewalks. As transportation programs continually work to improve accessibility, coordination, and support for these programs remain crucial to advancing accessibility across the country.
ATRC’s National Accessible Transportation Accelerator Network (NATAN) aims to connect people with resources and promote accessibility strategies. Over 1,500 transit professionals, disability and aging advocates, transportation consumers, and more have joined NATAN. To learn more and to join, visit our NATAN webpage.
ATRC is always looking for new accessibility strategies and stories to share nationwide. If you have a promising practice from your transportation program or a story about accessibility in action that you would like promoted, please contact us.
Beginning in 2024, ATRC will work with five communities across the U.S. to increase transportation access and use among historically underserved populations. Learn more and see if your community is eligible to apply for our community of practice.
