Priority Areas: Technology, First Mile/Last Mile
Practice Details: The Atlanta Regional Commission created a mobile application, the Georgia Mobility and Access Planner, designed to enhance trip efficiency and accessibility by providing users with tailored, step-by-step navigation and detailed information based on their individual needs. Key features of the app include connected vehicle (CV) deployments, an advanced trip routing engine, and a regional trip planner. This allows travelers to develop customized trip plans that address physical infrastructure, navigate unexpected issues, and ensure consistent visibility and accessibility during their journeys.
Why It’s Promising: The app provides users with the ability to plan a complete trip within one interface without gaps in their plan and includes important accessibility features, such as triggering Transit Signal Priority for buses if the traveler requires accommodation with boarding or exiting a transit vehicle.
Replication: The application is open-source, so it will be available for other agencies to replicate upon project completion.
