This year marks the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark Olmstead decision. The Disability Employment TA Center (DETAC) will celebrate the Olmstead anniversary milestone with a webinar focused on ensuring equal access to financial education resources and benefits counseling for people with disabilities searching for employment.
During the webinar, the panel will discuss how people with disabilities and their families can access tools for financial education through centers for independent living (CILs). The panel will also share how state agencies, Hispanic and Latino community organizations, and the local Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) chapter in Colorado partnered on benefits counseling outreach to help maximize community inclusion and independent living for people with disabilities.
Speakers:
- Samantha Moreno, Independent consultant; disability advocate; former CIL employee
- Peter Pike, Program Manager, Center for Independent Living Office (IL), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), Colorado Department of Labor and Employment
- Katie Taliercio, Disability Employment First Collaboration Manager, DVR, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment
- Douglas A. Alves, Program Coordinator, Work Incentives Practitioner (WIP-C), IL, DVR, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment
