New Publication: GUIDE TO BILLING CODES FOR DEMENTIA SERVICES
Dementia services and supports play an important role in helping people who are living with dementia to remain in the community. Identifying sources of reimbursement for dementia services remains an ongoing challenge. This guide is intended primarily for organizations that have medical billing systems in place and want to understand how to bill for dementia services. It may also be useful for organizations that are considering developing a medical billing system for services.
Billing third-party payers, such as fee-for-service Medicare and private insurance, can provide one source of funding. This guide includes billing codes that select ACL grantees have used successfully to bill for dementia services. The guide contains links to additional resources that provide guidance in using these codes as well as resources to assist in the development of the infrastructure needed to successfully bill third-party payers.
To introduce the guide, the NADRC will host a free webinar, Sustaining Programs for People Living with Dementia and their Caregivers: Billing for Dementia Services, on Thursday, October 22 at 2:00 PM ET. Following an overview of the guide, Jill Cigliana of Memory Care Home Solutions in St. Louis, Missouri will provide examples of how her organization utilizes third party billing to help sustain their work.
