Advancing independence and inclusion of older adults and people with disabilities
The Administration for Community Living was created around the fundamental principle that older adults and people of all ages with disabilities should be able to live where they choose, with the people they choose, and with the ability to participate fully in their communities.
By funding services and supports provided primarily by networks of community-based organizations, and with investments in research, education, and innovation, ACL helps make this principle a reality for millions of Americans.

All people, regardless of age or disability, should be able to live independently and participate fully in their communities and have the right to make choices and control the decisions in and about their lives.
ACL awards grants to states and organizations that provide services and supports for older adults and people with disabilities, conduct research, and develop innovative approaches to doing both.
ACL's tribal consultation policy ensures that tribal leaders, elders, and Native Americans with disabilities are meaningfully included and consulted about the development of policies that will affect them.
Since 1965, the OAA has supported community-based programs and an aging services network that help older adults stay healthy, connected, and independent. This July, we celebrate six decades of impact.
