ACL Announces 2021 National Falls Prevention Resource Center Award

September 2, 2021

ACL is pleased to announce the recent award of the 2021 National Falls Prevention Resource Center to the National Council on Aging (NCOA), Inc. The cooperative agreement awarded an anticipated $5 million during the five-year project period from August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2026.

The National Falls Prevention Resource Center will continue to provide technical assistance, education, and resources for the national falls prevention network to increase the number of older adults and adults with disabilities who participate in evidence-based falls prevention programs, especially in underserved populations and communities. The Center will also support Community Integrated Health Networks (CIHN) within states, regions, and tribes that provide evidence-based falls prevention programs, as well as related services that address social and behavioral determinants of health.

To achieve this, the National Falls Prevention Resource Center will:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the aging and disability networks through comprehensive technical assistance to enhance the reach and sustainability of falls prevention programs.
  • Serve as a national clearinghouse to identify, develop, and share education and resources around falls prevention for older adults and professionals who serve them.
  • Maintain a national falls prevention database to track program progress, and use program data to advance the field.
  • Host special events including Falls Prevention Week and a national conference.
