Modernizing Senior Centers Resource Center Award

October 15, 2021

ACL is pleased to announce the recently awarded cooperative agreement to the National Council on Aging (NCOA) to operate the new Modernizing Senior Centers Resource Center. The first year of this three-year project has an award of $250,000.

Senior centers are recognized as one of the most used services authorized by the Older Americans Act. Senior centers support community living by working to keep older adults active, engaged, informed, and healthy. The Modernizing Senior Centers Resource Center will work to ensure senior centers have the capacity, tools, and resources necessary to develop and implement programs that meet the current and future needs of diverse older adults across the U.S.

With this award, the Resource Center will:

  • Provide leadership to senior center and aging network professionals to support the modernization of senior centers.
  • Provide training, consultation, and technical assistance to senior centers around effective strategies for increasing and maintaining successful programming that meets the diverse needs of older adult participants.
  • Serve as a clearinghouse for innovative programs and strategies that can be successfully replicated in the community.

For additional information about this project, contact Sherri Clark.
