The morning of June 5, 2018, the Elder Justice Coordinating Council hosted its spring meeting. Held at at the Securities and Exchange Commission building in Washington D.C., the meeting provided a day of updates and discussion on the future of elder justice. Established in 2010 by the Elder Justice Act, the EJCC coordinates activities related to elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation across the federal government.
The event continued in the afternoon, with the 4th annual Global Summit on Elder Justice convened by the National Adult Protective Services Association, the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, and the National Center for Victims of Crime.
The event took place just ten days before World Elder Abuse Awareness Day - a day when communities around the world join together to promote a better understanding of elder abuse and neglect as well as the need to build strong supports for elders.
Ever so slowly this subject is gaining media attention; would love to see prime time coverage and focus on the disreputable attorneys, judges, guardians which form their unholy alliances. Would also like to see Federal Intervention.
