The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released a collection of resources designed to support state Medicaid and partner agencies in developing the supports and services being delivered to adults with I/DD and their aging caregivers. These resources detail ways that agencies can anticipate and meet the needs of aging caregivers and adults with I/DD, design person-centered planning processes across the lifespan, develop policies to support aging caregiver needs, and demonstrate innovative strategies that states are using in key focus areas.

Today at 10am ET: Elder Justice Coordinating Council Virtual Meeting
Today's virtual Elder Justice Coordinating Council meeting will highlight the importance of including older adults in preparedness planning for disasters, emergencies, and pandemics and discuss the future of the elder justice movement as we prepare to commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The meeting also will feature remarks from Jessica Schubel, Special Assistant to the President for Health Care at the Domestic Policy Council.

ACL is announcing a new Assistive Technology (AT) Alternative Financing Program (AFP) funding opportunity. The $700,000 one-year AFP grant will support the purchase of AT devices, including through a low-interest loan fund, interest buy-down program, revolving loan fund, loan guarantee, insurance program, or additional activities that result in the acquisition of AT devices.

Every June, ACL and its Senior Medicare Patrol Resource Center lead the nation's Medicare Fraud Prevention Week (MFPW) observance. Established in 2022, this week focuses on raising awareness of actions everyone can take to help prevent Medicare fraud.
