The Administration for Community Living (ACL) has awarded a $1.75 million cooperative agreement to Rush University that will fill the gaps in health professions training programs by embedding disability-related content on the health care of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) into interprofessional health education curriculum.

ACLs coordinated transportation systems grantee, Transit Planning 4 All, has selected three applicants for the Inclusive Mobility on Demand Grant. The teams will weave together inclusive transportation planning, development, and implementation with grassroots-driven mobility on demand (MOD) solutions. Mobility on demand is an innovative user-focused approach that utilizes technology and public-private partnerships to integrate various existing forms of transportation.

In response to the ongoing opioid crisis, ACL recently awarded a total of $1.7 million in two-year state APS enhancement grants to Montana and Nevada. The state APS systems will use the demonstration grants to innovate and enhance practices, services, data collection, and reporting in order to better serve and assist clients impacted by the opioid crisis.

ACL recently awarded 11 grants for innovative projects that will enhance the quality, effectiveness and outcomes of nutrition services programs provided by the national aging services network. The 2020 grants total $2,649,389 over a three-year project period. ACL aims to identify innovative and promising practices that can be scaled across the country and to increase the use of evidence-informed practices within nutrition programs through this grant program.

HHS' Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response recently published Discharge Planning and Care Coordination during the COVID-19 Pandemic, a resource developed in partnership with ACL and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
This tool is designed to support nurses, social workers, case managers, and others conducting discharge planning for adults with disabilities after COVID-19 treatment.
