On the heels of the FDA and CDC decisions to expand COVID-19 booster shots to all adults, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra issued the following statement:  

New applicants are invited to submit applications for the FY 2022 AmeriCorps Seniors - American Rescue Plan Senior Demonstration Program.

Although many people with COVID-19 get better within weeks, some people continue to experience symptoms that can last months after first being infected, or may have new or recurring symptoms at a later time. People with this condition are sometimes called “long-haulers” and this condition is commonly known as “long COVID.”

Today, during National Family Caregivers Month, the Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren delivered its initial report to Congress. The report is a culmination of a two-year, multi-faceted effort that gathered information from kin and grandparent caregivers of children across the country. It provides an overview of the many complex issues faced by these families and recommendations for addressing them.

During the last two decades, the number of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) living in community settings and receiving home- and community-based services (HCBS) increased dramatically. While this led to better outcomes, including people with ID/DD making more of their own choices and being a part of the community, there are great variations in the accessibility of quality HCBS across the country.
