On July 13, an interim final rule with comment period (IFC) was published in the Federal Register that implements requirements set forth in the No Surprises Act to establish protections against surprise billing and excessive cost-sharing in health care.

ACL is pleased to announce the first round of 2021 awards for its state and community Alzheimer's Disease Programs Initiative (ADPI). The 11 newly awarded, three-year cooperative agreements are with one state and 10 community organizations for a total of $10,618,781. The grantee programs are located in nine states and one territory across the nation.

The National Paralysis Resource Center (managed by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation) has awarded $580,934 in a special award cycle - COVID-19: Addressing Social Isolation Quality of Life grants this year. Funding for the grants is made available through a cooperative agreement with the Administration for Community Living in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

A large part of the United States has been experiencing extreme heat conditions (high heat and humidity with the temperatures above 90 degrees for several days). During extreme heat, the body works extra hard to maintain a normal temperature. Heat-related distress can occur quickly and without warning.
