One aspect of the Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) mission is to assist American Indian, Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian Elders to live with dignity and self-determination, while participating fully in their communities. The Administration on Aging, which is part of ACL, implements this mission through its Older Americans Act programs and relationships with other federal agencies and their services.

Next Wednesday, ACL will close National Disability Employment Awareness Month with a with a panel discussion spotlighting employment achievements of professional baseball players with disabilities. When: Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. Where: Barbara Jordan Conference Center, 1330 G Street NW in Washington, DC (near Metro Center). At this time, the event is in-person only. The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is conducting a three-part evaluation of its Title III-C Nutrition Services Program (NSP),

ACL recently awarded six grantees funding for innovative projects that will enhance the quality, effectiveness, and outcomes of nutrition services programs provided by the national aging services network. The grants total $742,872 for this year with a two-year project period. Through this grant program, ACL aims to identify innovative and promising practices that can be scaled across the country and to increase use of evidence-informed practices within the nutrition programs. The six organizations receiving grants and their projects are:

ACL recently awarded Elder Justice Innovation Grants totaling nearly $2.2 million to five non-profit organizations to support the development and advancement of emerging practices to prevent and respond to the abuse of older adults and adults with disabilities. These two-year grants seek to improve the well-being of abuse survivors, study outcomes of Adult Protective Services (APS) interventions, and test promising practices related to APS work. A rigorous evaluation component is built into each of these new grants.   Responses to Reduce Harm:

The Administration for Community Living recently awarded a new grant totaling $950,638 for the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) to Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC). This is a three-year continuation grant. NCEA, in partnership with key stakeholders, will build upon a strong foundation to engage professionals and empower communities to establish, strengthen, and support just and thriving societies working together to eliminate elder abuse.
