The Administration for Community Living (ACL) awarded the State Health Insurance Assistance Program Technical Assistance Center (SHIP TA Center) to the Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A).

ACL's Office of Healthcare Information and Counseling has awarded the Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging as the Senior Medicare Patrol National Resource Center (SMPNRC). The

“Kinship Families and Grandfamilies” are families in which children are raised by their grandparents, other extended family members, or adults with whom they have a close family-like relationship. Currently, there are an estimated 2.7 million children in grandfamily/kinship households without parents in the home.

Transitions, including from school to college or work in the community and from pediatric to adult health care providers, can present unique challenges for people with Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). One significant challenge is that the transition services and supports currently offered to youth and adults with IDD by school and health systems are often fragmented and difficult to navigate.
