Community Care Corps has announced an RFP for innovative local models where volunteers provide nonmedical assistance to older adults, adults with disabilities, or family caregivers to help them maintain their independence.

The role of unpaid or family caregiver is one that an estimated 11 million Americans have assumed in support of more than 6 million individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). That number is projected to triple by 2050.

ACL is pleased to announce the 2022 cohorts of CDSME and Falls Prevention grantees. The project period for these grants is May 1, 2022– April 30, 2025.  The new CDSME grantees will reach an estimated 14,000 older adults and adults with disabilities through evidence-based CDSME and support programs. These grantees will help communities develop or expand, deliver, and sustain evidence-based CDSME and support programs for older adults and adults with disabilities, particularly those in underserved populations or geographic areas. 

Self Advocates Becoming Empowered and ACL's Administration on Disabilities are pleased to announce the 2022-2023 Self Advocacy Resource and Technical Assistance Center (SARTAC) Award Fellows.  Six Fellows were chosen based on the policy or leadership project they wanted to do to help the self advocacy movement. Over the past decade, the ACL-funded Transit Planning 4 All program has promoted the development and dissemination of best practices in transit planning inclusive of people with disabilities and older adults. A major component of these efforts is funding a series of demonstration projects, each seeking to increase inclusion in transportation planning.
