Community of Practice Webinar Series Understanding Community Engagement: A Two-Part Employment First Webinar

October 31, 2022

Part Two: Work Learning Activities as a Pathway to Competitive Integrated Employment
Wednesday, November 9, 2022 | 3-4 PM ET

As we close National Disability Employment Awareness Month on this final day of October, you are invited to join the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, and members of the Federal Community Engagement Cross-Agency Workgroup for the second of this two-part webinar series focused on understanding community engagement and its role in expanding competitive integrated employment.

Webinar attendees will hear from panelists and leaders from across the country who model successful work learning programs as a key component of community engagement. During this webinar, you will learn how state leaders successfully blend vocational rehabilitation and developmental disability agency supports to create effective work-learning opportunities for individuals looking to build skills while looking for work and for students currently engaged in pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS).

During the second of this two-part webinar series you will:

  • Discover models of work-learning and learn how programs fit in with other community engagement and Pre-ETS programs.
  • Hear from leaders and practitioners from Pennsylvania about a successful cooperative model of work-learning and community engagement.
  • Hear from individuals who have benefitted from work-learning activities as part of their job seeking and community engagement schedule.

The webinar will be facilitated by:

  • Melissa Deihl, Senior Technical Assistance and Research Analyst, George Washington University
  • Michael Stoehr, Knowledge Development and Technical Assistance Specialist, University of North Carolina-Charlotte Cato College of Education

You may attend part two of the webinar series even if you did not attend part one

Please email any accommodation requests to vrn@econsys.com.
