Register for the webinar.

The ACL-funded National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) is launching a new webinar series in which elder justice trailblazers will share their experiences, challenges, joys, and contributions in the field. The series seeks to honor the past, understand the present, and shape the future of elder justice, one conversation at a time.

To kick off the series, NCEA is hosting an engaging conversation between M.T. Connolly and Dr. Laura Mosqueda. Discover this unique collaboration that has informed seminal elder justice legislation and intervention and profoundly advanced the field.

Speakers:

  • M.T. Connolly is a leading national expert on elder justice who was awarded a MacArthur “genius” grant for her work. She was the architect of the federal Elder Justice Act, founder of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Elder Justice Initiative, and lead author of the Elder Justice Roadmap, shaping federal, state, and local research, policy, and practice. She is also co-designer of the community-based “RISE” model intended to introduce holistic, hopeful, and effective ways to empower older adults, reduce harm, and promote elder justice.
  • Laura Mosqueda, MD, FAAFP, AGSF is the Director of the NCEA and a professor of family medicine and geriatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). She is an internationally respected authority on elder maltreatment and the care of older and underserved adults. Dr. Mosqueda is an expert on medical education curriculum design, development, and implementation. Since joining the Keck School of Medicine of USC, her roles have included: Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Associate Dean of Primary Care, and Dean.

Live captioning will be available during the webinar. For questions or additional accommodation requests, please email ncea-info@aoa.hhs.gov.

Funded by ACL, the NCEA serves as a national resource center dedicated to the prevention of elder mistreatment. In addition to providing elder abuse information to professionals and the public, it provides technical assistance and training to states and community-based organizations.
