Technical Expert Panel on Older Adult Food Insecurity and Malnutrition

December 27, 2021

ACL is seeking content experts and individuals with expertise in older adult food insecurity and/or malnutrition to join a technical expert panel (TEP) to help make recommendations to improve the National Survey of Older Americans Act Participants (NSOAAP). Panel members will be individuals from State Units on Aging (SUAs), Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), other federal agencies, the aging network, special interest advocacy organizations, academia or research organizations, and policymakers. The TEP will work to ensure the inclusion of appropriate questions while balancing survey length.

Timeframes and Time Obligation

The TEP will meet between January – April 2022. During that time, members will need to attend 6 total hours of virtual meeting time. In addition, members may need an additional 1-2 hours of preparation before each meeting.

  • The first 2-hour meeting will occur late January or early February 2022.
  • The second 1½ to 2-hour meeting will occur in mid-March 2022.
  • The third and final 2-hour meeting will occur in late April 2022.

Application Process

In a separate Word document, applicants should answer the following questions:

  • Provide full name, degrees, job title, current organization, and contact information.
  • What is your area of expertise and background relevant to older adult food insecurity and/or malnutrition?
  • What is your experience or knowledge of the Older Americans Act programs or other programs that support older adults to live independently at home?
  • Do you have conflicts of interest with this work?

Applications must be received no later than January 10, 2022, and should be emailed to joannecampione@westat.com.

The optimal size of the TEP has yet to be decided, but will not exceed 20 members, therefore not all applicants will be accepted for participation. Applicants will be notified regarding their acceptance status no later than January 18, 2022.

If you have further questions, please contact Dr. Joanne Campione for additional information.
