Two Upcoming Webinars from the National Paralysis Resource Center

August 12, 2021

The National Paralysis Resource Center (operated by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation) will be offering two webinars on volunteer opportunities and virtual support groups. See below for more details and registration links.

Get Involved: Volunteer and Advocacy Opportunities with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation

Wednesday, August 18, at 2:00 PM ET

Register for the webinar.

This webinar will explore the Regional Champions and Ambassador Programs; presenters will discuss the focus of each program, the regional champion and ambassador roles, and how individuals interested in volunteering can get involved. The Regional Champions Program is made up of grassroots advocates who care about issues impacting the paralysis community and are willing to take the time to cultivate relationships with members of Congress. The Ambassador Program raises awareness of the National Paralysis Resource Center’s programs and materials at hospitals and rehabilitation centers across the country. Trained ambassadors conduct outreach to these facilities in their local area and meet with their staff to introduce them to the many resources available to patients and their family members through the National Paralysis Resource Center.

Making Connections: Virtual Support Groups

Thursday, August 26, at 3:00 PM ET

Register for the webinar.

This webinar will provide an introduction to the National Paralysis Resource Center's recently launched virtual support groups for people living with paralysis and their family members/caregivers. The webinar's presenter will discuss the who, what, where, when, and how of the virtual support groups and the many reasons why joining a support group can be beneficial to members of the paralysis community. A support group facilitator will also share his perspective on group meetings and a member of the family member/caregiver support group will discuss the impact of attending meetings.

ACL funds the Paralysis Resource Center to provide comprehensive information for people living with spinal cord injury, paralysis and mobility-related disabilities and their support networks. Resources include information and referral by phone and email in multiple languages including Spanish; a peer and family support mentoring program; a military and veterans program; multicultural outreach services; quality of life grants; and a national website.
