Walk for WEAAD Registration Now Open

April 25, 2023

Registration is now open for the 3rd annual Walk for WEAAD (World Elder Abuse Awareness Day).
Join us and help build a national elder justice movement, through movement!

Sign up now online or through the Walker Tracker app, so you’re ready to walk, run, or do any other activity to show your support for WEAAD. And we do mean any other activity. Walker Tracker converts a variety of activities accessible to people of all different abilities into step counts, so we can count every step we are collectively taking to advance elder justice.

How to get ready for Walk for WEAAD (May 1 – June 15):

  1. Go to the Walker Tracker Walk for WEAAD webpage
  2. Register for Walker Tracker, create your profile, and start tracking your activity online or on the Walker Tracker app.
  3. Join or create a team with colleagues, friends, or family. The “WEADD Team” is open to all!
  4. Wear purple clothing or ribbon or create signs to honor survivors of elder abuse and raise awareness of WEAAD.
  5. Walk, run, or do any other activity to show your support for WEAAD.
  6. Invite others to participate in Walk for WEAAD and be part of the movement to prevent and end elder abuse.

More WEAAD Activities and Resources:

ACL’s National Center on Elder Abuse has many more tools and resources to help you and your organization recognize WEAAD and promote elder justice, as well as a calendar where you can find and add events.

They also have sample messages and other resources for the National Weekend of Prayer and Action for Elder Justice (June 9-11) and the week of WEAAD.
