The Administration for Community Living (ACL) and partners from across the federal government jointly developed two new resources to help expand opportunities for competitive, integrated employment (CIE) for people with disabilities. CIE – jobs alongside coworkers with and without disabilities, in integrated settings in the community, at competitive wages, and with opportunities for advancement – is a critical part of community living.

Effective 2023, any Medicare Advantage (MA) organization offering one or more Dual-Special Need Plans (D-SNPs) in a state must establish and maintain one or more enrollee advisory committee (EACs). EACs must serve the D-SNPs offered by the MA organization in that state to gather direct input on enrollee experiences. Engaging members through EACs can help health plans understand and address barriers to high-quality and coordinated care, which can lead to improvements in members’ care.

ACL has awarded three new grants under the Lifespan Respite Care Program for FY 2022. Lifespan respite care programs are coordinated state systems of accessible, community-based respite care services for family caregivers of people of all ages with special needs. Such programs reduce duplication of effort and assist in the development of respite care infrastructure at the state and local levels.
