The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is pleased to announce the release of a new grantee report outlining services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in the U.S. territories. The report, “Services for People with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities in the U.S. Territories,” is the result of collaboration between the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts, RTC on Community Living at the University of Minnesota, and the State of the States in Developmental Disabilities at the University of Colorado.
The territory report includes information about employment status, employment and education services, and trends in community living for people with disabilities living in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This report represents the first national long-term data collection project to focus on collecting, tracking, and analyzing data about services for people with I/DD and their families in the U.S. territories. The information will help policymakers, service providers, and individuals with disabilities and their families increase opportunities to improve self-determination, independence, productivity, and integration in their communities.
