ACL will award two grants totaling $125 million to rapidly increase the number of older adults and people with disabilities who have received the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Applications are due by Tuesday, December 6, 2022.  Disabled people and older adults have faced a disproportionate share of hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to significantly increased risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19, many faced barriers to accessing COVID-19 testing, treatment and vaccinations.

Staying up-to-date on vaccinations is the most important thing we all can do to protect ourselves from serious illness due to COVID-19. It’s particularly crucial for older adults and people with disabilities. As trusted voices in their communities, many aging and disability organizations across the nation are working this season to educate people about the latest vaccines and help older adults and people with disabilities overcome any logistical challenges they face in getting vaccinated. 

New funding opportunities from ACL's National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) have been announced for the Field Initiated Projects (FIP) Program and the Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) Phase I.
