Planning for the Future

Under the Older Americans Act, ACL funds a number of programs that help older adults, families, and caregivers can use the resources below to think about planning for the future, from exploring health insurance and long-term care options to retirement planning and pension support, and more.

Paying for Services

Understanding what services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care insurance, and other programs is critical to making community living work for you. Learn more about payment options and support, including Medicare coverage counseling, government benefits, programs for veterans.

Retirement Planning and Pension Support 

Financial security is critical to a high quality of life for older adults. ACL works to improve financial peace of mind through two programs funded by the Older Americans Act (OAA).

Local Services to Support Living at Home

The Eldercare Locator provides local contact information for Area Agencies on Aging and other community organizations that provide home-delivered meals, supportive services, long-term services and supports assessment and planning, and help finding legal aid providers.

Long-term Care

There are a number of issues to consider such as where you want to live and how you will pay for the care you need.
